TO LEARN ABOUT USING OUR FARM FOR YOUR GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP, SEE CHARLEY’S CHANCE BELOW

We are a Northwest Ohio nonprofit inspired by the life and compassion of Charley Bauer. Our community activities and Meet & Greets are offered seasonally and will resume this spring.

“Charley’s Chance” at Tiny Hooves Farm offers a year-round venue for organized grief support groups.

Our Inspiration

On February 16th, 2025, our world lost a beautiful soul. Charlotte ‘Charley’ Bauer was a nursing student at The Ohio State University and a lifelong animal lover who faced nine months of leukemia treatment with optimism and grace. She was diagnosed at age 20 and passed away at 21. Charley’s family and friends have found great purpose in creating a small farm to carry forward her legacy of hope, connection, and love for people and animals.

Our Herd

Each animal in our herd has been carefully selected and has traveled from near and far to join the Tiny Hooves Farm family. Our herd includes Valais Blacknose Sheep, Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Mini Silky Fainting Goats, Alpacas, and Mini Highland Cows.

Many of our animals are named in honor of doctors, nurses, and patients who are part of the larger Nationwide Children’s Hospital family - especially on floor 12, the Hematology/Oncology/BMT floor. Use the link below to learn about the inspiring people who gave these animals!

Community Activities

As a nonprofit, our mission is to support others currently affected by the heaviness of grief and loss. To make this possible, we also offer paid community activities. The money raised from community events helps fund medical care, farm upkeep, and daily needs of our herd. Community activities must be booked in advance. Space is limited as we aim to create a comfortable and positive experience for our visitors and animals.

We have three dates currently open for a hot cocoa visit with our Highland Cows! Spaces are limited to 8 visitors per evening. Winnie and Daisy will both be there to greet our guests.

Grief Support Groups

“CHARLEY’S CHANCE”

Located in Northwest Ohio, our farm welcomes organized grief support groups interested in exploring the therapeutic qualities of farm animals. Each grief support group must be led by their own facilitator and will have access to our barn or pasture, weather dependent. We will provide light snacks and beverages, seating for twelve, and sweet farm animals. Tiny Hooves staff will be on hand to care for the animals and help make your visit smooth.

At this time we are not able to host private grief sessions for individuals or families. If you are struggling with grief and loss and are interested in joining a grief support group, we encourage you to reach out to your local hospice programs, or grief centers, or faith community.
