This little guy is named after Will Howard, former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback, now a Pittsburgh Steeler. His name is a tribute to Will Howard’s advocacy for the National Marrow Donor Program which matches patients in need of a life-saving stem cell transplant with potential donors. After Charley passed away, Will Howard was the star of an NMDP donor drive at The Ohio State University in her honor, encouraging others to join the registry while carrying forward Charley’s mantra: I Can Do Hard Things.
